Sealant and Screws
DEKS recomends using a neutral cure, low modulus silicone sealant
from a reputable manufacturer. Acetyl cure silicones should not be
used. One example is ASi 335. It is a high quality sealant that is
neutral cure, and good to 400 deg F.

Low modulus silicone means that it is stretchy, has lots of
movement
•
Neutral-cure silicones release alcohol when they cure and have
almost no smell. (Acid-cure caulking have a vinegar smell as they
cure)
To secure the boot to the metal, use a 16mm self-tapping hex-head
screw that comes with a rubber washer.
EPDM = Ethylene propylene diene monomer (synthetic rubber)
TPE = Thermoplastic Elastomer
